Overview

This conference will take place over three days. Friday will focus generally on questions of neoliberalization and corporatization of higher education and the casualization of academic labor. Friday's meetings will be held on the University of Minnesota's West Bank campus, at the Carleson School of Management (directions; map). Saturday and Sunday will look at questions of alternatives, including campus labor organizing, radical pedagogy, and other strategies of resistance. Saturday and Sunday will be held on the East Bank Campus at the Institute for Advanced Studies (Nolte Hall).
The format of the conference will include both panels and roundtables. Panels will involve the presentation of a paper followed by discussion. Roundtables will be more informal, with presentations kept to 8-10 minutes and will offer extended time for discussion.
Breakfasts and lunches will be provided all three days. Friday night there will be a social with appetizers. On Saturday there will be a catered diner and reception.
